| 1395077 | 2015-02-25 07:35:00 | Our neighbour at the end of the street...5-6 houses down....has a dog and they seem to let it take itself for a run. The house is fully fenced but they pretty much always have their gate open. It seems like a nice enough dog but a few times a week it knocks over the wheely bins and makes a mess until I go motivate it to leave. I have yet to approach the neighbour as I'm not sure they are the reasonable type. The houses down the end do have a history of mental outpatients etc which are generally pretty friendly but I've been told they can be unpredictable. Is there any way I can prevent this without confronting them? I am big enough to handle myself but I don't want to start any drama if I can avoid it. My past experiences with the SPCA leaves me no faith in them so is there any other contacts that might pay attention? Like I said the dog seems friendly and it clearly knows it's not allowed to be on our property but that doesn't stop it. I don't think the dog is the problem anyway! Cheers in advance! | 1395079 | 2015-02-25 07:52:00 | Get pic's and times(get a time stamp on pic's) if your camera/phone is capable,takes a few complaints to council to get any real action and usually from more than one person Don't get yourself involved with the owners in case it goes pear shaped I know someone who is a master of this(not me) |

The SPCA only deal with animals that are being mistreated....and then they have a process, can't just enter properties and take it without the legal steps. You need animal control. Chances are the animal control person won't be around when the dog goes walkies....you could trap it. We did this years ago to catch a particular nasty dog. We ended up catching another 14 or so - but not that one....animal control loved us. I let one go home, the rest got taken in. The dog we tried to catch ended up strangling itself on it's own fence not long after..... |

Perhaps if you got a sign saying "Taxidermist, subjects wanted" on your front fence the pet pests might just be kept in their own place. Alternatively, you could make and sell dogskin gloves and real fur Davy Crockett hats. Advertise them as free-range winter wear ;) |
