| 1394916 | 2015-02-23 10:35:00 | I think that John Keye should go to Iraq and experience what armed combat is really like. Politicians have always declared wars, and the younger generation has to clean up the mess. The Iraq war was/is illegal, headed by George W Bush who should be before a war crimes tribunal. If they had left Saddam Hussein alone Isis wouldn't be a problem. New Zealand should keep out of it and just concentrate on local security. As for the people being beheaded, they shouldn't be there. If you are a do-gooder interfering in another country you have to suffer the consequences. If the NZ army is unemployed I am sure that they could work with the Police Force. | mzee (3324) | ||
| 1394917 | 2015-02-23 17:05:00 | I think we should go and send combat troops. If nothing else they will get realistic training bowling over these murderous ISIL bastards. Treat them as targets when we run out of them to shoot come back. | prefect (6291) | ||
| 1394918 | 2015-02-23 17:19:00 | What about sending Donkey and John Keys as well? that will be three of them! I would be all for sending our guys if all the other major players especially Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, China, Germany etc committed troops as well. And look how great training Iraqi troops is after 10 years of American training they ran away at the sight of a few white Toyota pick up trucks. Not only that you are at risk of being shot by the very guys you are "training" |

The army has to be paid even if it has nothing useful to do, so why not use them to boost the Police force and Navy? Don't know what to do with the Air Force when they are not busy searching for some idiot lost at sea or transporting people to and from the Islands. |

| 1394921 | 2015-02-23 22:16:00 | Can anyone tell me who is making a fortune supplying Toyota vehicles, firearms, ammunition and other supplies to ISIS? One thing is for sure, they don't make any of it themselves! Individual terrorists are difficult to deal with, but with groups you can cut off their supplies and all support. |

And then more threads from mzee but this time accusing the government of using troops against its own citizens ... |

Yes, John Keye should go to Iraq and leave our P.M. to run the country |
