| 1394778 | 2015-02-22 05:08:00 | This morning when I woke up the veins on the back of my hands were almost black. After a while they returned to normal. My son says that it is caused by a low oxygen level in the blood, for some reason. Any Docs out there? |

If it happens again I would mention it to your GP. Be wary of self-diagnosing using Dr Google. | Jen (38) | ||

There could be a Cardio/Vascular problem needing diagnosis and remedial attention, without which a possible stroke risk. A few simple tests are required. |

When the venous pooling occurs the veins bulge with the blood and since they carry carbon dioxide rich blood to the heart they appear bluish. If you are a fair skin person then the veins are more easily visible than in a dark skinned person. If there is any pain, redness, heat in the area of the swollen veins then you need to see a doctor. |

The vessels may have looked bigger and darker if you had got too hot, as they also serve as a form of heat exchanger with the surrounding environment. I could be wrong, but I'm not too concerned about it myself. |

Maybe the oxygen level of the room was low :) |

Told me that at my age I was expecting too much! More pills as usual. My main problem at the moment is a sore right hip which prevents me from going for a walk. I have been trying to ride a bicycle to take the weight off the hip, bit shaky on the balance :) I bought an electric bike to help up the hills. Haven't had the nerve to go on the road yet, stick to the paths. |
