Ahhh, but they were the ones who failed in the Public Sector, Lawyers and the like who see $150k plus being good money.

1395220 2015-03-02 21:33:00 you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

If you think a successful business person is going to go into politics to earn lots of money you are deluded. $150K is nothing. Being available 24/7, working 80 hour weeks for $80K. Good luck with your elected rep

Actually some successful businessmen do take HUGE pay drops to go into politics , thats allready happening now & in the past. (J.Key, J.Banks)

And, despite paying over $100K + perks, we still get monkeys. Just how many MP's earned even 1/2 their MP salary at heir previous job, if they had one.
One MP said even her secretary earns more than she did at her previous job.

So this myth about needing to pay big $$ to attract good people into politics, its just BS. That obviously hasnt worked.
Big salaries are more likely to attract the wrong sort of people, those who wring system for every dubious $ & perk possible.

An awful lot of "talk" and paper shuffling there but no "do". Where are the achievements?

However, I do notice from your link you provided that they are working on a matter of immense importance.

Actually, I’ve been raking my brains to come up with something too but all I can think of is Jim Anderton and his Kiwi Bank and Winston Peters and his Seniors Gold Card and even then they were only got by holding the wannabe government to ransom, and were a long time ago.

Believe it or not, but if I was paying staff $25m a year in wages, plus travel and other perks, I’d want to see a hell of a lot more than this lot are producing. :D
