1394610 2015-02-19 00:17:00 I am becoming more and more disenchanted with my iPhone3Gs as time goes on.

It is impossible to play or store any music on it without having iTunes on the phone, all other alternative programs from other companies still require iTunes on the phone to operate.

I added extra money onto the phone last month because I though I was going into Hospital for surgery this month and would need the extra capability.

I normally use the phone just for texting and I will admit it has the best ergonomics of any phone I have ever tried for texting.

Today I got notification that my Unlimited text was about to run out and I only had 38cents on the phone!!!!! There should have been at least $20 left since I made no calls last month.

After consulting with 2Degrees it turns out that the charges are due to data usage; but I thought I had the phone locked down and, I do.

Only thing on is 2degs Auto, all other coms and apps off.

Looking though the times of usage averaging about 80 cents a day or thereabouts I find that it is around the time that I turn it on in the morning after having it off at night to avoid being disturbed.

So it seems that the phone uses a big splurge of data every time it is turned on to check or update god knows what.

Has anyone else noticed this behaviour???

Think I will be going back to my old flip phone soon.

1394611 2015-02-19 00:25:00 Can't you just turn cellular data off in the settings?
That will stop it from using any data at all.

1394612 2015-02-19 00:33:00 Turn the 3g off, that's with we do with our Android phones (well SWMBO does), you only need it if using something that requires internet, she has hers setup so it auto Connects to our wireless at home once in range, that's when she gets prompted if any updates.

As for the Music -- Welcome to iTakeoveryourdevice. If you NEED iTunes then you'll have to put up with it, its the way it works with apple products.

1394613 2015-02-19 02:22:00 Yes thank you CYaBro, I had seen that option before but thought it would stop the phone from working altogether.

Stock Market Scroll gone now, says Stocks Offline in the Notifications window, so I hope all the other data users will be not able to connect.

:+1:

My daughter loves hers... She previously had an Xperia - now she'll never go back, despite what she initially thought of the BIG (4.5") screen - before she'd used it for a bit
