| 473843 | 2006-07-26 23:05:00 | Blatantly copied from Aus PC Authority Aug edition. With AMD promising 35W Athlon64 desktop CPUs, RAM speeds of up to 1066MHz and the awesome FX-62 processor, AMD should appeal to everyone. With pricing ranging from AU$120 to AU$339 there is a board to cover everyones pocket. AM2 isnt just about theoretical performance boosts of switching to DDR2; its the new socket for all AMD CPUs for the next 2 years or so from the AM2 Sempron 3000+ for AU$120 to the Athlon64 FX-62 for more than AU$1500. Very good article, I don't normally buy this mag but this particular article and their 50+ graphics card review was too good to pass up. The articles are not online yet but if you get a chance it's definitley worth a read. Some of the models reviewed were... Cheers chiefnz Theses are the only two I'd bother looking at: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 Chipset: nForce 570, 2xPCI-E 16x, 3xPCI-E 1x, 2xPCI, 4xDDR2, 8 channel high definition audio, 4 USB, FireWire, 1xGb Ethernet, parallel, serial, optical and digital S/PDIF AUS$240 Asus M2N32-SLI-Deluxe Chipset: nForce 590, 2xPCI-E 16x. 1x PCI-E 1x, 1xPCI-E 4x, 2xPCI, 4xDDR2, 8 channel high definition audio, 2xGb Ethernet, optical and digital S/PDIF, serial, FireWire, SATA and WiFi AUS$339 And then I'd buy the ASUS. |

| 473845 | 2006-07-27 07:13:00 | PC Tek, think I will agree with you there on your choice Asus, as its got the better chipset. Not that I am an avid supporter of SLI, but that O/C option on the bus does sound wicked. Wonder if we will see bandwidth saturation in the current generation bus that warrants the O/C though. Both are my 1st choice motherboard manufactors too, win win! I am seriously considering that E6300 chip for my next machine, AM2 doesnt seem that much of a benefit right now, however a socket 939 X2 would be a nice step up from single core. :D |

| 473846 | 2006-07-27 22:05:00 | AM2 isn't going to last. AM3 is already in the works. I just changed my single core S9393 to a dual core for now. |
