| 474538 | 2006-07-29 06:24:00 | I hope I dont get may ass fried for something slightly off topic. I am putting a computer in my boys rooms and need to install a phone jack there. I changed my wiring to 2 wire setup 5 years ago. The colour of the telecom pair coming out of the ground is black and yellow. Which side of the new 2 wire phone jacks do they go. Is it black to connections 123 side and yellow to 345 side. or other way around I tried it both sides and it works but there must be a proper connection. My house is late 70s early 80s if thats any help with the NZPO black and yellow pair in What was the 3 rd wire used for anyway if there was only 2 in? Thanks for any help. tedheath |

It's shown here: www.telecom.co.nz The three wire jack points were used in the older system, with the third wire as a ringer connection. It has been dropped now, and ADSL does not like it as the system is unbalanced. |
