Two weeks ago I bought a game that doesn't work on my computer (of cours I didn't know that ^^).. this comes up wenn I want to play it: Failed to initialize direct3D. Abording. I was said I had to change my grafik card, what I did... A GeForce6600 GT, but the thing is it just won't work... first of all I can't find were my old grafik card is hiding, so I thought with desactivating it it would maybe work, but it doesn't... I don't know what to do... I don't eaven know if I could change my grafik card... I just need a few tips on how I could instal my new grafik card, becaus I just don't get it :waughh: would be nice if some one could help me^^ thank you very much! |

| 474434 | 2006-07-28 16:43:00 | First thing you need to do is uninstall the old graphics card drivers. You do this via your System settings. Then shut down the computer. Take out the old card. Fit the new card. Then install the new card's drivers. Possibly need to install latest DirectX as well. If you're unsure about the above then ask again and we can give step-by-step instructions. But... it would help if you can advise what operating system you use... Windows XP? |

If so, he will not be able to physically remove it and any attempts to do so will probably destroy the mobo . Just disabling it should suffice and then install the new card and let the wizard find it first . |

I would have disagree there; 1st thing he needs to do is uninstall the drivers for the onboard graphics then he can disable it prior to installing the new card. Cheers chiefnz |
