475030 2006-07-31 21:35:00 Ok, I have a virus that gives me constant loads of pop-ups from IE when it's not even running, I need to know the steps to succesfully identify a virus/trojan/spyware and then destroy it.

Thanks,

475032 2006-07-31 21:41:00 since you havent posted your operating system I'll assume that you are running xp........clik the link below and download 'ewido' it's EXCELLENT and it's a free months trial ......it soun'ds to me like the possibility is that you have some nasty spyware not necessarily a virus.......anyway..download ewido then update it then run a scan....

475034 2006-07-31 21:57:00 What kind of pop-ups? It might just be the Messenger Service, which is easy to disable. Greg (193)
475035 2006-07-31 22:06:00 Internet Explorer Pop-ups...porn pop-ups and "your computer is infected with spyware" pop-ups that are spyware in itself. And Windows itself was saying I had a virus it had the virus alert thing in the tray, but it seems to have dissapeared after the scan, and no pop-ups either. But there was lots of spyware on my comp though so that was most likely the problem. I already disabled the messenger service I believe. I'll check anyway. relyt_123 (10878)

yeah thats right, just fix the symptoms not the cause. if it wasn't for the popups you would never know you where infected. most likely you have multiable infections........

but hey you don't seem to care about infecting everyone else on the planet  :badpc:
