475434 2006-08-02 10:20:00 with a motherboard change the OS should have been reinstalled which would have ment reactivation anyway. sounds like the tech did a dirty fix and your paying the price. tweak'e (69)

475436 2006-08-02 10:56:00 The fix has already been posted, look back through the thread. The motherboard has been changed, this constitutes a major hardware change , I doubt if MS will be interested, read your EULA. This PC was out of warranty a while ago judging from its origins. zqwerty (97)
475437 2006-08-02 10:59:00 format and reinstall. then reactivate, by phone if need be. as you have the key it should be fine UNLESS PcCo used that key on multiple pc's, then you may have to have words with MS about it. tweak'e (69)
475438 2006-08-03 02:27:00 Re-activating by phone is very painless and straightforward. But interested to hear whether MS will buy it because of the restrictions on OEM copies (sold at a discount with the hardware and not able to be transferred).

Let's know how it goes.

475439 2006-08-03 02:32:00 need to reactivate following a major Hardware change when XP was first released.Glad I have stuck with Win2K. I even selected it when WinXP was already released.

Eventually I will completely trash it and use Linux, when M$ stops updating it. In the meantime. I will just keep it very secure.
