| 476302 | 2006-08-05 23:26:00 | Hi . Wanted to post this here b/c CounterSpy program got on my nerves badly and I had trouble finding any information on removing it . Some may be supporters of this application, but anything that reinstalls itself when you want to remove it in my book deserves a special place in hell . I downloaded CounterSpy with hopes of cleaning off some spyware which it did not clean off . Aside from the fact that it launches itself on startup, and it's hard to get it off from startup, there is no uninstall utility . The file that cannot be deleted is SunExecuteHook . dll and is the one that causes the problem . So after an hour of battling with it I was able to remove it . Here are the instructions: - Go to START, click on "Run", type in regedit and hit Enter . - Drill down to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\ShellExecuteHooks\ - Right click on and delete registry entry: {076394AD-7FDD-44EF-A075-32C68DBAB99B} - After restart you should be able to delete CoutnerSpy files . They are located in C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\Consumer\ Thanks, hope this helps someone . |

| 476303 | 2006-08-06 02:27:00 | What? I had and removed Counterspy last week when I used it to clean my brothers computers. I have had no issues with it, or any dll's not unregistering themselves. Unusual. |
