| 476030 | 2006-08-04 23:35:00 | I know that 192Megs isn't really enough, but winXP actually runs not to bad. But thats beside the point, Im actually mainly running 98SE on it, however XP does some tasks better than win98 can do, wich is why I have it on there in the first place. I got some drivers from the creative website, however they seem to be as much use as the windows drivers. I also state that I have used the winXP drivers before with the same soundcard on a different PC without any problems. Will try it in a different PCI slot, and will also try to find a bios update. |

| 476031 | 2006-08-05 03:40:00 | Switching PCI slots stopped windows from taking so long to load, and the error message in directsound testing, but I still don't have any sound coming from the card - even though windows says I do. All the 'driver' did that I downloaded from the creative web site just installed the windows xp drivers anyway. I searched for bios updates but it appears that I already have the latest bios installed. |

Then its the wrong one: au.creative.com Driver release for SB PCI 128 Vibra / PCI 16 (Models CT 481x & 4740) (4.20 MB) Which model is yours? It will be writtien on the main chip. If Creatives site doesn't have one then try Driver Guide. |

| 476034 | 2006-08-06 04:00:00 | pctek, My creative vibra has the model no CT4810. The Driver that you posted a link to WAS the driver that I downloaded and used. Still no joy. I have a feeling that it is incompatable with the mainboard for some reason, and that I wont get it working, because it is an old mainboard and soundcard, and no one has released drivers/updates for them for the last 5-6 years. |

Hmm, check if what IRQ it is using - what is it sharing with? Check in the BIOS for P&P settings, on or off? Any excluded stuff, like reserved for PCI slots etc? I wouldn't admit defeat at this point . It will be XPs fault in some way . . . . |

| 476036 | 2006-08-06 16:33:00 | Hey Sherman, I have an original Creative Vibra installation CD, I'm happy to make a copy of it for you if you'd like, assuming of course you don't get your problem fixed. PM me if you're interested. Cheers chiefnz |

| 476037 | 2006-08-07 00:21:00 | chiefnz, I do have a driver cd, however it is for win95, 98 and nt4, so I doubt that it will work for windows xp. Is yours the same? And as for the bios settings, I had already checked them and everything seemed ok, however I will check again. |
