476264 2006-08-05 12:49:00 Hiya ppl,

Wondering if someone may have some advice for me on whether this will work or not.

I have a desktop and a laptop, both are wireless capable.

I also have a DLink Broadband modem and a Wireless access point.

What i want to do is to plug the modem into the access point, and then use the access point to create a wireless network, which allows broadband access to both devices, as well as letting both devices talk to each other.

Sounds easy enough right? Is this possible, or do i need more gear?

If it is possible - any advice on how best to do this?

Thank you

Misstake.

You would have you modem be the gateway to the computers, DHCP server and also the DNS server.

Just set the IP for the accesspoint, and run it in accesspoint mode, make sure it isnt serving DHCP or DNS.

As long as you have shared something on both computers they should be able so transfer files to and fro.

Having the computers in the same workgroup makes it slightly easier to navigate in Network Places, but is not necessary.

Just plug the ethernet cable into the modem and wireless base station and your done (other than telling your computer to access the internet via the wireless network). :) maccrazy (6741)
