476736 2006-08-07 02:38:00 I have just downloaded a 500 mb file .
Firefox stuck it's nose in and wanted to do it.
File downloaded ok. When I tried to install it in D: firefox told target did not exist
in C: and refused to do anything. Then it told me target did not exist and shut itself down.
My download has now been lost.
What do I do now. Delete firefox and go back to IE?????????????? :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

476737 2006-08-07 02:59:00 First upgrade to the latest FF. Then go to Tools > Options > Downloads, check "Ask me where to save every file".

More importantly, if you're regulalry downloading largish files, use a 3rd party download manager with the Resume function.

476738 2006-08-07 04:38:00 Like Murray said, but try this...make a folder on your harddrive called "FF Dnlds Here" and then point FireFox towards it.

....makes it easy to find them if you forget where you sent them. :nerd:

476739 2006-08-07 04:46:00 I would go back and start the download again - this time take particular note where it will be saved to then cancel the download and go find it. sam m (517)
476740 2006-08-07 04:59:00 Try uninstall Firefox and get The Real Deal - Mozzila. Greg (193)
476741 2006-08-07 05:09:00 Try uninstall Firefox and get The Real Deal - Mozzila .

I think Mozzila is a kind of cheese . . . I would use Mozilla . . . . it won't work on pizza though!

(Get the whole Mozilla suite . . . . it's the cats!)

476742 2006-08-07 05:42:00 If you're using XP it 'might' still be in temp file... I've noticed sometimes F/fox saves things there, other times not.

Worth looking as follows:

1st option make sure in control panel folder views 'show hidden files' is ticked then go into my computer> C > navigate to My Documents> local settings> temp

if it's there you can highlight and copy back to your docs folder or where ever.

2nd option is try the search function and see what it turns up.

3rd option (and maybe the easiest) is begin d/loading the file again, if F/fox has already d/loaded it the file might appear in your download window again and you should be able to save it.

476743 2006-08-07 05:50:00 Typically, the default download site for FireFox is to the desktop...have you looked there yet? SurferJoe46 (51)
476744 2006-08-07 07:58:00 I would suggest this download manager.

476745 2006-08-07 09:35:00 I've fixed Firefox.
I uninstalled it.

Back with IE 6.

Downloads are behaving.

Can't understand why I changed to firefox.
