| 476626 | 2006-08-06 23:01:00 | Primo PDF (free) does create PDF files, it installs as a "printer", when you select PrimoPDF as the printer it creates the file. How are you attempting to use it? http://www.primopdf.com/ But PDF to MS Word requires a program such as SolidPDF Converter, which to my knowledge has never been free on PC World, though it has on an APC magazine CD last year. http://www.solidpdf.com/ (not free) The caveat is that the PDF must be one that has been correctly "created", not scanned in or protected. Many newer photocopiers produce PDF files, these will not convert to MS Word, as they are just a "picture", with no actual text content. Also many regulatory forms and applications in PDF are protected against conversion. |

I tried printing to the Primo PDF 'printer' but as I stated - there are two problems with it - It does not create PDF files (and if I try to over-write an existing file it deletes the file) and clicking ... beside filename/path nothing happens. |

| 476629 | 2006-08-07 03:02:00 | I have found PDFDirect (free version) very good. It has the ability to append newly created PDFs to existing PDF files, very useful. More useful still, is Open Office org. It creates PDFs natively. |
