| 476413 | 2006-08-06 05:03:00 | On doing a routine mail download to mailwasher, all accounts downloaded normal except one of my Xtra accounts. The error message in mailwasher is: "the pop server does not appear to conform to the pop3 protocol (I couldn't parse the unique-id listing)" Tried on another computer, same message, and googled it without success. Before I phone Xtra, has anybody got any idea as to what this means? The only possible clue is that when I tried bypassing mailwasher by doing a direct download, I saw 51 message waiting. That is highly unusual for this account which rarely gets more than 2-3 messages a day. Computer scans clean for all nasties. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

Hmmm.....It is the same with two separate installations of mailwasher on different computers, and that system has been fine for years so my instincts tell me it is potentially an Xtra problem. I'll try the webmail route to at least see what is there, then call Xtra if that isn't the problem. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 476417 | 2006-08-06 10:49:00 | Weird. Can't help but just fyi I use Xtra and Mailwasher too, and haven't experienced this kind of problem. Is your Mailwasher the Pro or Free version? |

Pro version Greg. I've just emptied the box via webmail (83 messages, all spam) but interestingly, when blocking the addresses there were many more than 83 senders addresses involved. Once cleared, I went back to Outlook and sent myself a test email to the affected address and it downloaded to mailwasher without any error. This was a significant and unusual attack on that particular mail address and I wonder why Xtra hasn't cleaned out the spam instead of putting it into my mail box, or have I perhaps had a serious d'oh moment by assuming that this was automatic because I've seen no instructions from Xtra about enabling their new anti-spam service? | 476419 | 2006-08-06 20:14:00 | Hi Billy, I had this problem a couple of months ago. Lots of googling and a look at the Mailwasher forum indicated that the problem was actually malformed messages that were causing the error. As Linw suggests, the only way of dealing with them is via webmail. |

| 476420 | 2006-08-06 23:49:00 | Well, as I posted yesterday, webmail clearance fixed the problem, but what sort of spammer buggers up their messages so that they can't be downloaded. :p Any comments on my possible d'oh moment re Xtra's anti spam service? Cheers Billy 8-{) |
