2006-08-09 08:29:00 | I used a primitive version of Cyberlink Power Director. It wasn't bad so I bought the full version (V6)- about $65. It is easy to use and I suppose the results aren't too bad as long as you don't try to put too much data on a video ( like putting 6 hours of video onto one dvd). Its easy to add effects like fancy transitions and add chapter breaks. I looked at a lot of software, some costing thousands, and this was the easiest to use. The advantages of the stand alone? It is easy to program. The resolution is miles better than tape. You can start watching a program before it has finished recording. You can watch a recorded program while recordind another. It is easy to edit and title stuff and save it to dvd. You can record hundreds of hours of tv and never have to watch any ads again!

2006-08-09 09:06:00 | PAL is the format for TV,and what NZ should be set to. If you're using the tuner side of it. And most probably the same for video. Have u got a graphics program or something? If u have can u take a snapshot of the different menus / options, and post them here (www.imagef1.net.nz) And post the links this site gives u back here. Since I dont use this program, I cant really tell u what to choose etc. www.imagef1.net.nz www.imagef1.net.nz www.imagef1.net.nz www.imagef1.net.nz I hope these can be of help.

Now, can Power Director be used to download the actual tapes onto HDD? That would be grand! Can you let me know if this is the case? Cheers. |

2006-08-09 09:45:00 | Nothing in pic 3 looks like it gives u video in. You sure this connection on the tuner, is video in? Not video out?? It doesnt sound like it supports video in.

2006-08-09 09:52:00 | Humm...I read Video in on the RCA input at the back. I even emailed the support people at packard bell...4 days no answer. :( I may have to go Andy's way I guess...

2006-08-09 10:03:00 | Stop the press...I went to ATI and the Radeon 9550 I have installed only supports video out apparently...it sucks really... This means I need to get a card with video in, right? Any idea of a good one and the cost? Cheers.

2006-08-09 10:18:00 | The tuner not the videocard may have video in on the back of it. Something like an s-video din plug connection. So, if the tuner hasnt got any connection on it, besides the aerial and audio, then you need to replace the tuner, and that program u took snapshots of. Since it doesnt look like that program supports / lets u switch to the video in on the tuner (if its got a video connection on it).

2006-08-09 20:52:00 | Ok Speedy, I have scavenged the computer files and found what is installed on my PC as a TV card below: www.imagef1.net.nz www.imagef1.net.nz www.imagef1.net.nz These pics are screenshots from the pc tutorials and it looks like I was reading right in the first instance. Where to from here Speedy? Mate, I'd like to thank you infinitely for your great and knowledgeable help. I'll send you a couple of bottles of good wine when we get to the bottom of this, if you want ;)
