2006-08-09 08:02:00 | My mother has a Japanese student. Maybe a coincidence, but all the app menu bars are now in Japanese. Have had a look around regional seetings but can't find anything. What else could it be? | wotz (335) | |

2006-08-09 08:23:00 | not quite. The start menu is in english. Its the drop down options on the menu bar across the top. I'm using firefox now but can't read file, edit, etc. Can read Yahoo, but thats it. | wotz (335) | |
2006-08-09 08:25:00 | Have you tried the advanced settings (last tab) in the regional and language settings (xp)? | developer (4447) | |
2006-08-09 08:27:00 | Yes. Is set to english. What are the code page conversion tables? | wotz (335) | |
2006-08-09 08:28:00 | Has the student changed just the language in the Firefox web browser? Or the whole of windows xp? | Nyuuji (5460) | |
2006-08-09 08:32:00 | looks like it could be only firefox after all. As I can't read the menu, can you tell me how many across and down to go? | wotz (335) | |
2006-08-09 08:35:00 | The table tells you which ones are enabled. If one is enabled, Windows can convert that used in your program from and to unicode, I think. When some programs get installed, the installer detect which non-unicode set you are using (the one chosen in the last tab of your regional and language settings) and starts using that language (character set) in the user interface. However I dont think Firefox does this. Maybe your Firefox is just Japanese.

2006-08-09 08:40:00 | Sounds like you will maybe just need to download the latest english version and reinstall over current firefox. | Nyuuji (5460) | |
