| 477044 | 2006-08-08 05:06:00 | We have been having weird network problems for a while now in our flats LAN. We have 4 computers using the D-link 805G(or something similar) router that also connects us to the net. We are all on XP. We can all see and access computer A's files, but noone can get anyone elses files without the window crashing/stalling. The odd thing is sometimes(not often) it works. For example my comp, (Comp B) can copy and view computer A's files, but I cannot upload into a shared read/write folder on A. I can see comp C's files, although sometimes when looking it makes the window stall. And sometimes(hardly ever) I can run vidoes from comp C, although copy/pasting never works. I did think this was a firewall problem, so I turned off all the fire walls and that still didnt seem to help. Comp C updated his drivers but it still didnt change anything, and I tried to find better drivers for my networking, but my motherboard is very old and obscure. Does anyone have any ideas? - Are there network diagnostic tools somewhere that could help? Its a real frustrating and confusing problem!! :angry |

Everyone can see computer A and access/ copy its files. Comp A can view B and C's files but has the above stalling problem sometimes even when just viewing. And B and C have this same problem between them. When trying to say, copy a file from C onto A, the system gets very laggy/unstable, and the file is created on A, but the file transfer window starts up and none of the file gets transfered. I'll get everyone to do a virus check but I'm pretty sure that isnt the problem. By permissions you mean ticking share on the network box? Or more advanced than that? |
