476937 2006-08-07 21:00:00 Just bought a Leadtek Winfast TV 2000 XP card, nice and cheap, because all I want to do is copy some old VHS tapes to a digital format .

Picture worked fine straight out of the box, but no sound either with live playback or recording .

I have a mobo with built-in sound (Asus A8N-Sli), have plugged the card in to the mobo's AUX audio slot with the included cable . (Have also tried the CD audio connector)

AUX is selected as the output and recording source in the software . I don't think cable orientation for the little connecting cable that goes between the TV card and sound matters, the middle two are ground and outer two are left / right . . . ?

VHS uses standard composite RCA cables to go from Video Out to the composite connector on the card . Must be connected right I think cos video worked straight off .

Thoughts are:

1) Uninstall and Re-install drivers
2) Add a 3rd-party sound-card to the system . . .
3) Replace the TV 2000 card

Any help much appreciated!

Cheers,

Brendan

476938 2006-08-07 21:27:00 You need to bridge the line out socket of the TV Tuner and the Line in socket of your sound card with a 3.5mm stereo cable.

You should have received one of these cables with your TV card.

So basically the cable runs from the GREEN SOCKET on your TV card to the BLUE SOCKET of your sound card.

Once this is done, make sure you set your TV cards PVR software audio settings to your sound card.

Hope that helps.

476939 2006-08-07 21:36:00 Make sure that the line-in jack is selected in Windows. Open "Volume control" (Programs/accessories/entertainment), Select Options menu, Properties, recording. You will probably find the Line-in either turned off or muted. andy (473)
476940 2006-08-08 03:07:00 Thanks guys...

in terms of the line out socket etc, there is no external audio connection on the back of the PCI TV Tuner Card, just an external little cable, like the ones used to go between optical devices and sound cards.

476941 2006-08-08 06:40:00 Which card have u got?? If the Deluxe the 2nd socket on the left (looking from the back of the PC), goes to the blue socket on the soundcard .

If u have the Expert, its internal not external . You need the cable that connects to the AUX or cd connector on the mobo .

The Expert has the same connection on it as you've stated .

The same as what a cd, or dvd rom would use for sound .

476942 2006-08-14 02:22:00 I have the expert (Leadtek Winfast TV2000 XP RM), no external sound connection, it has the internal one as in optical (CD / DVD) drives...

Thanks,

476943 2006-08-14 06:26:00 Just connect that cable u have from the tuner connection inside the case, to the AUX or CD connection on the mobo.

Then go to sounds and audio devices in control panel.

Under the audio tab / sound recording , see if the cd/aux option is ticked. Tick it then u should have sound.
