477313 2006-08-09 04:33:00 Aaaargh! I've had my computer three years over that time I've added and built onto it, updating it so forth. I run Windows XP (Prof. I think) and up until yesterday never had a problem with it. Think its worth saying that I've not updated/added for a while in terms of hardware but my housemates do sometimes use it so I don't know what they've added in terms of software.

Yesterday I was watching a dvd in nero, paused it to get get a refil and then went to click back to play..and the mouse went nuts on me.. it flies across the screen, clicks on random things..usually start up bar, task manager and outlook! it tries to close down my windows..it just goes mental. If I don't use it like now I can vaguely get by...but what can I do about my crazy mouse? I've tried everything I can think of! I've just tried system restore and it still does it, it took me nearly half an hour to get to this screen!

Please please help I've got a design project to finish in a few days and its impossible without my mouse!

Thank you!!!

477314 2006-08-09 06:15:00 Welcome to PressF1 agmphelan. :)

If it is a ball mouse, unscrew the ring on the bottom, take the ball out and clean inside it (w/o undoing screws). If that doesn't help, right-click the desktop (anyware without icons) and try to click Properties. Click the Settings tab, then click Advanced. In this dialog box, click the Troubleshoot tab, and move the hardware accelateration down one notch. :p

477315 2006-08-09 06:22:00 Replace the mouse and see if this helps. I've had a dying mouse go nuts on me before as well with similar uncontrollable outbursts from it  Jen (38)
