477210 2006-08-08 20:30:00 I am running Win XP Pro, and I have hit somewhat of a hurdle in terms of deleting a file.

When I go to delete it by the normal means, nothing happens, and when I right click on the file it only shows about half of the previously available options on the menu.

So, having had similar problems with files resisting deletion before, I remembered I had a cool little utility lying around called MoveOnBoot, but this gave me the error that the file name is invalid.

Any advice would be great, as I don't know what to try next.

477211 2006-08-08 20:36:00 Hey Dave, try KillBox (www.bleepingcomputer.com) and see if that can delete the file.
If not try running the Error-Checking (Scandisk) tool on the hdd and see if that fixes the file.

477212 2006-08-08 20:59:00 I tried both methods you suggested, neither of them worked, killbox didn't even find the file. Thanks for your input though.

Any other suggestions anyone ?

477214 2006-08-08 21:25:00 rename the file suffix to something like txt?

That may bring the file back to a recognisable format for the computer.

477215 2006-08-08 21:52:00 I'm not sure if this will work but you can try unlocker 1.8.1 (www.download.com). Jimmy D (2061)
