477168 2006-08-08 10:27:00 Can anyone tell how to stop windows picture and fax viewer automatically downloading images off the web - it just fills it up with junk pictures, icons etc? I'm on Windows XP. Thanks b.graham (10944)

How can windows picture and fax viewer download anything? The version that is part of my XP Home system doesn't have that functionality.
I suspect that something else is at work here and WPFV is just where things end up. I use WPFV quite a lot and have never seen the kind of things you speak of. :)

b.graham, it just sounds like it is looking at files from an internet temp directory or something. The VIEWER is just that. It doesn't download anything.

Q. How do you get the viewer to run?

Godfather's instructions may be correct, but I would think again about your problem before doing this change.

But to undo any change is just as easy.
Start - Run - type:

regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

And press Enter.
