Official warning on Windows bugs
The US Department of Homeland Security has urged Windows users to install the latest patches from Microsoft as quickly as possible.
In particular it warned about one bug fixed in the latest batch of security updates that, if exploited, could put a PC under the control of an attacker.
Microsoft's recent update fixed 23 flaws found in Windows software.
Many of these bugs are known to malicious hackers and some are already actively exploited on the net.

I have installed every update that there was available on windows update for this month, & I have not had any issues.

It must be your computer or something you have installed before installing this patch.

477811 2006-08-12 14:00:00 I fear you may be right stu161204, I may have been hasty in my diagnosis. Things were going well for a while but after about an hour of use I am getting the same runtime error. Damn. So disregard my post above refering to the MS update as I no longer believe it caused the problem. zqwerty (97)
477812 2006-08-12 14:43:00 I updated FreeDownloadManager (FDM) the other day so I uninstalled it and the problem has disappeared so far. zqwerty (97)

I had a similar situation myself today. It turned out that a change in display properties was causing programs not to run, and my modem not to work. Everything was very slow and when I clicked on an icon the program wouldn't start, but there would be two instances of it showing in TaskManager. :illogical
