| 477567 | 2006-08-10 07:20:00 | Im confused. For the same price as an AMD 3500+ (www.qmb.co.nz) i can get an Intel Pentium D Dual core 805 (www.qmb.co.nz) or for $10 more an Intel Pentium 4 541 (www.qmb.co.nz) What i don't understand is that they are all around the same price but the Intel CPU's are .2MHz higher in the Dual Core case, and 1GHz higher in the Pentium 4 case. And i was of the understanding that the GHz meant how fast it goes. So if i'm right why are they they same price when one is 1GHz faster? Or more likely am i completely and utterly wrong about it? EDIT: Oh and doesn't dual core mean it goes faster or something? |

Here Toms hardware reviewed and benchmarked Intel and AMD. Take a look this (www.tomshardware.com) for a LITTLE LIGHT reading :D :p It really depends on what you are going to be doing with the PC. But Intels new Conroe core is very good, better than most AMDs... :groan: Dual core simply means it has 2 logical processors on the same physical processor, which means in certain apps it can be theoretically twice as fast. |

If that's light reading then I'm the king of england. and i'm going to use it for everything basically but playing games to. meh its all so confusing :waughh: i think ill stick with what I've got. cos that 3500+ will run games and the like right? |
