| 477413 | 2006-08-09 10:42:00 | Hi Last week a case fan died in my HP computer. so i went and bought this one (www.dse.co.nz)from DSE. Now when this is plugged in and the computer is started the fan spins for 2 secs and then stops [But lights stay on]. I tried connecting it to different fan power sockets but same thing happend so i plugged it into the normal 12V socket using this (www.dse.co.nz) converter and then fan spun. The fan which was on before was also 12V but .20A. is this causing the problem??. if not what can it be? |

| 477416 | 2006-08-09 13:02:00 | is there ducting that goes from the fan to the cpu heatsink? some pc's havevarible spped fans controlled by the motherboard. you can change the speeds and temps it runs at in the bios. its possible the bios has defaulted to standard setings and with some it turns off the fan untill the cpu is hot enough. failing all that the other most likly thing is ythe fan header is faulty. you will need to run the fans useing the adaptor. |

| 477417 | 2006-08-09 22:13:00 | No this isnt a CPU fan its a case fan which sits on the back panel of the case. unfortunatly i cannot start the pc until that fan is in working condition. because i get a error saying that the case fan isnt working so to avoid anymore damage it wont boot. | gum digger (6100) | ||
| 477418 | 2006-08-10 01:51:00 | How many wires are there going to the fan? It looks as if the motherboard is monitoring the fan speed, so you need three wires (two for power, one for the speed sensor, and, course a three pin connector on the mother board). | Graham L (2) | ||
