2006-08-13 06:55:00 | And what games would you play on that. Hearts? Not only Hearts, but anything that your old heart could handle in FPS's and more. Your old body... oops sorry, I mean system, is only equal to what could be bought for that price. Don't complain here if you paid too much for your current system! I won't cry! | Greg (193) | |
2006-08-13 07:28:00 | Maybe consider a shuttle pc?Those small case PC? Not relavant but my father brought me a Terminator PC which is a mini desktop pc. It has 6 usb ports 80GB harddrive 1Gb ram Intel 3GHZ DVD Rewriteable drive He then spent around $90 for a Ati Radeon 9800Se for me and used some mod drivers online to tweak it at 9800PRo Costed just under $1100 I think if you were to buy the parts yourself and get someone to build it or maybe find someone who can choose the parts and built it for you.You could probably save a bit than buying a brand new system

2006-08-13 08:16:00 | that computer that you have created thomas 9 looks pretty good. bearing in mind of course that that is only a single core processor, not the dual core you said you wanted at the start of the thread. (ninjabear: the computer thomas9 has made would spank a 3ghz pentium with a 9800 pro)

2006-08-13 09:04:00 | This system should be able to run most games smoothly. The prices do not include GST, do they? ok this is what i have been thinking about AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Socket AM2 2.4GHz @ $220 Microstar K9N Neo-F Socket AM2 nVidia nForce 550 ATX @ $170 2x512MB DDR2-533 PC4200 SDRAM @ $70 (run in dual channel) GeForce 7600 GT 256MB PCI-Express @ $330 Seagate 120GB 7200rpm @ $100 Samsung 52x32x52x CDRW+16DVD Combo @ $50 Raidmax O2 Orange Case with 500watt PSU @ $100 All up $1100. | 477894 | 2006-08-13 20:42:00 | those prices do include GST. I now know that in games the Dual Cores dont really make a difference | thomas09 (10276) | |
2006-08-13 22:11:00 | now know that in games the Dual Cores dont really make a difference That is only running current games, some maybe dual core capable but I am not sure, But I know for a fact that with dual core CPUs now being top of the range for performance, game designers are going to code multi threaded games, they may not be here now, but shortly in the future they should be, and you will regret not getting a dual core CPU, and just general CPU intensive tasks such as video encoding use dual core CPUs effectivly... | The_End_Of_Reality (334) | |
2006-08-14 05:58:00 | Try running vista on a single core at the same time as any reasonable game. Good luck. | RandomCarnage (9359) | |
