| 478393 | 2006-08-14 05:29:00 | My comp keeps shutting down without any help from me. It dies just like when we have a power cut. Could the PSU be the problem, the comp will not start again without the power cable being unpluged and then replaced. I have had the same problem before and each time (and that be three) the motherboard (Microstar K8N Neo Platinum motherboard, Socket 754, 3xDIMM, DDR, 8XAGP, 5xPCI, 4xUSB 2, Firewire, A) was replaced but the problem is back and a new fix is needed. My com spec Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST3120026AS, 120 GB, 7,200rpm, 8192K cache, SATA-150, Fluid Bearing PowerColor Radeon 9600 XT video card, 128MB DDR, 8XAGP, VIVO, DVI, Bravo Edition Overclockers - Case with PSU Cobra, Tower, Front USB, 400W ATX PSU, Blue Kingmax 512MB, DDR-SDRAM, DIMM, DDR400 LiteOn SOHW-1633S, Dual Layer DVD Writer, DVD 16R/16W/4RW, CD 48R/48W/24RW, Internal, IDE AMD Athlon 64 3000+ CPU, 2.0 GHz, Socket 754, Retail Pack with fan Microstar K8N Neo Platinum motherboard, Socket 754, 3xDIMM, DDR, 8XAGP, 5xPCI, 4xUSB 2, Firewire, A |

| 478395 | 2006-08-14 06:41:00 | what brand PSU? what cpu and motherboard temps are you getting? could be the heatsink isn't sitting on it correctly. personaly i lap the heatsinks as the stock finish is f**** TERRIBLE ! (i couldn't get all the groves out of mine) and use a decent thermal paste. |

| 478400 | 2006-08-14 07:56:00 | I'm not sure it this has any bearing on your problem, but since about noon I have periodically been "frozen" or "booted" from several sites I use. Waikato and Bay of Plenty are fairly close together. Cheers, Marnie |

| 478401 | 2006-08-14 09:17:00 | If you have had the same problem before, and have gone through three motherboards, I would be looking at the PSU as a cause. Do you know if they replaced or tested it? Another thing to consider is the house power circuit being overloaded that your machine plugs into. Can you move the computer to another area and see if the problem persists. Make sure it is on a different power circuit. |
