478295 2006-08-14 02:04:00 Bought a Leadetk Winfast TV2000 XP RM a while ago, three trips to the retailer, including purchasing a new soundcard that I didn't need, only to find out that because it only has one composite RCA audio in jack, I can only get mono audio when viewing or recording VHS .

I specifically mentioned when I purchased the card, from PB Technologies in AKL, that I wanted it solely for VHS to digital copying for work . Hence he recommended their cheapest model, which at the time I appreciated .

Does anyone know whether I can get a TV tuner card that does stereo sound through VHS? I am assuming if I get one with a line-out jack, to connect to the sound card's line in, that it will handle stereo? Or is it a limitation at the VHS level, because it only has one audio out jack? Will a VHS with S-Video be any different? I have about 20 videos to digitise, and would like stereo sound .

PS: The guy I spoke to at Dick Smith's was adamant that sound wouldn't work at all, I mentioned that I had previously posted to this forum and was sure it did, and he started denigrating the forum . Whatever!

478296 2006-08-14 02:29:00 I have the same card as you. In the manual about board layouts mine is the TV2000 XP Series Model 4. My sound cable goes from the card to my Sound Card which is a SB Audigy2 ZS, haven't notice whether my sound is mono or stereo though.

478297 2006-08-14 04:16:00 If your VCR only has mono sound output, then the best you're going to get is mono sound. I'm fairly sure that I have seen VCRs with stereo sound.

S-Video will only affect the video quality, so shouldn't affect sound in any way.

Does your software allow you to capture sound using your sound card, instead of the tuner?

478298 2006-08-14 05:00:00 I have just had a look at my setup. I have the left and right channels from my VCR plug into my sound card so it would be stereo. The cable I use is Known as a Y cable. It has 2 RCA type plugs on one end and a mini stereo jack plug on the other. As somebody said if your VCR dosen't have stereo out ie left and right channels it well be mono.

478299 2006-08-14 05:40:00 I agree with the above, I simply cannot see where the TV card sound capabilities comes into it.

It's to be used as a video capture card only, the sound capture is via your sound card/motherboard sound inputs.
