| 478060 | 2006-08-13 00:37:00 | Just helped a friend put together his new computer, which uses an Asus A8S-X motherboard. So far we've had no problems except when it came to connecting the front panel audio for the case. now the manual has this (www.imagef1.net.nz) as the description, but I've never seen those names before. the case plugs are labelled 'L-out', 'L-retur', 'r-out', 'r-retur' (for the line out socket and loop-back to the back panel audio, also 1 'GND' connector (I know where that goes) and for mic 'Mic-In' and 'Mic +5v', obviously signal and power. but Presence# and all this?? :waughh: :waughh: Also the front USB is confusing. the mobo is labelled fine there but the case has 2 connectors for each port. a 1-pin plug marked "ground" and a 3 pin plug with USB on it and 3 wires, Red, White (in the middle) and Green. |

| 478065 | 2006-08-13 01:38:00 | It appears to me that the motherboard doesn't want individual "plugs". It expects a single 5x2 header socket, with one place not used. (A key?). That's not a jumper block. There are connectors available which will accept small coax cables, and single wires, as well as the IDC type. Maybe it's part of the AC-97 standard even if the case manufacturer hasn't heard of it. :( USB uses 4 wires, as you know. On the "A" socket the two outer posutions are +5V and ground; the two inners are data. You have the ground one marked. Red is probably +5V, so that leaves Green and White as the data lines. Check with your meter. ;) |

| 478066 | 2006-08-13 02:24:00 | Following the link gibler posted, I was able to find a PDF with the required information - the header is infact the new Intel HD audio, I took a copy from the PDF here . ( . imagef1 . net . nz/files/Intel_HD_Audio_Config . jpg" target="_blank">www . imagef1 . net . nz) It seems there is a return but it's not for audio signal from the headphone jack, rather it's for detecting what you have plugged in .
