| 478855 | 2006-08-16 16:51:00 | Not too sure really. You'd be better of using the Ethernet connection and then run a cross-over cable into a hub or switch so that you can connect multiple computers. A hib or switch won't cost you much at all. Cheers chiefnz |

| 478856 | 2006-08-17 13:20:00 | i'll presume you're using xp here you can set it up so the internet connection is shared on your netwrok via the pc into which the modem is plugged into. the network setup wizard should be able to do it...... press F1 and search help for "ICS" or "Internet Connection Sharing" i would get a proper modem, or a router with inbuilt modem if you dont have any crossover cable, most of the new TPlink routers auto detect *** is going on and sort themselves out (i bought a TL-SF1008D for $25 from madkiwi a couple of months ago, it conects to my dlink DSL-G604T which is a router/modem/wifi ap) |

| 478857 | 2006-08-17 21:28:00 | I have done a similar thing to this. A friend recently went to ADSL through Xtra and got their free modem which has USB and Ethernet ports on it. We set up the modem to work through his XP laptop using the Ethernet port with no problems. He also has another PC with Windows 98 on it and wanted to get data off that machine to his new one so we set up the ADSL on that PC using the USB port. In the end, we ended up with a network of sorts where he could send data to each machine, and also has internet access from both machines at the same time. | 478858 | 2006-08-18 03:49:00 | yeah i am using xp i got a free modem from my company which is usb so i thought maybe there would be a way to join through ethernet i have cross over cable buti guess ill just muck around with the settings and see what happens thanks anyway |
