478847 2006-08-21 05:29:00 I STRONGLY recommend an app called SUPER.

Don't recall the address, and can't be bothered to google it for you. You do the leg work.

I originally found it googling the words 'convert MP4 video'

Anyway, SUPER is a poor windows interface to a collection of brilliant command line apps that can convert practically any video formats.

It also achieves a far better quality of image, with better compression than the mainstream Ulead aps that I've tried.

And it's FREE!

Ignore the grey text that says 'an error has occurred' - this is always visible. It turns red if an error actually occurs. Grey means normal operation.

478848 2006-08-21 08:45:00 Ive had experience with WinAVI Video Convertor... absolutely brilliant software.

Other than that, Ive not had much luck in windows, everything else has been in linux ;)

I agree CS.Had to find something to convert mov. and tried WinAVI. It did a far better job than other ones I tried, including VideoStudio 10 (I think it was, or was it Windows Movie Maker. One won't accept mov files.).
Haven't mastered Super or Media Coder yet,too many options!!

478850 2006-08-21 12:40:00 Both mediacoder and SUPER have orrible interfaces but both will achieve more or less the same thing. My personal preference is MC since it has a slightly better interface.

I cant really say much for SUPER since I did not really use it much

478851 2006-08-21 21:03:00 Try here for the info you need, I have spent hours on this site www.videohelp.com Lawrence (2987)
478852 2006-08-22 08:30:00 I think the original poster is trying to create a DVD that will play on a simple DVD player. To do this you would need a DVD authoring Prog. A different approach would be to output the video from the comp. using a video card with TV out directly to the TV. This way you can create a playlist of your videos in something like Media Player, with appropriate codecs, unfortunately I don't think there is a codec for Media Player for .mov files for these you would need to use Quicktime which will only create a playlist if you purchase Quicktime Pro. You can, however, play individual .mov files direct to the TV through the video out. Hope this helps a little. :) JackStraw (6573)
478853 2006-08-23 04:40:00 Thanks everyone for your input. I tried Mediacoder but speaking for myself , had a few problems and crashed even after I re-installed it. Super Is the one, nice and easy to understand , worked like a charm

Thanks Lawrence that guide helped me to create music vids onto dvd to play in a dvd player through the TV. :D

I would recommend that site that Lawrence has showed.
