478576 2006-08-15 05:10:00 :D Now I know im going to get a bunch of people saying "ur computer sucks to play video games" and "why do you wanna play an outdated game" Well the game is actual very fun and alot of my freinds play it in LAN.
And i know my comp can play this because i played it on here before. The ram is upgraded to 768mb btw. Anyway here is the story. I got this laptop from a freiend and it was all installed and had a bunch of stuff on it. I installed BF1942 and had it on a pretty high rev and it ran pretty good. Anyway I got a few virus's and I decied to just do a clean Install of WIndows XP. Well I think i renstalled all the drivers but now when i try to start BF in even the worst rev and lowest settings i can load about a quarter of the map and then my whole comp frezzes up. I just dont understand this because this same comp was playing it before with more junk on it and I made sure i had the same video drivers for my SiS M650. If anybody could suggest somthing it would be great.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. sorry for my bad grammar :D

478578 2006-08-15 05:45:00 Welcome to PressF1. :)

Just out of interest, what game is it? I also play an outdated game, with maps! :p ;)
pcuser42 (130)
478579 2006-08-15 05:53:00 The game is BF1942 the game that came before BF2. Alot of people still play BF1942 instead of BF2 Because of the stat system that BF2 has it makes it less fun to play. BF1942 you just sit back join a game and have fun.
Ill try defraging it and get back to you.

478580 2006-08-15 06:29:00 Not the game I play then. :( pcuser42 (130)
478581 2006-08-15 08:05:00 Make sure the latest Directx is installed as well as the latest cipset drivers for the computer and the latest graphics driver. pctek (84)
478582 2006-08-16 02:46:00 I did the Defrag and it seems to speed up my PC but not BF. Im going to try lookin for some drivers. :groan: Al-Hassan (10986)
478583 2006-08-16 03:01:00 I have that game, its very good, havent tried it on LAN though....Will have to reload it....

If your graphic card drivers are up to date, i would suggest it is the laptop motherboard drivers that are the issue, though DX is of course the 1st check I would do.

478584 2006-08-16 04:15:00 Thanks SolMiester
I just Downloaded and Installed DX 9.0c And my Graphics Drivers are good so It must be the motherboard. Thanks for all the help Ill get back to you when i try that.

Sorry SolMiester but could you try to find me a link to the drivers. I looked online and all i seem to find is Graphics Drivers. My Motherboard I belive is a SiS M650 but thats what my Graphics are so im not sure if the mother board is the same name or if the motherboard has a differnt name. Again my Comp is a Dell Inspiron 1000 if that helps.

P.S. Im not a totally noob with computers im pretty good with them I just get frusterated when its my own problem and not sombody else's its alot easier I find to fix sombody else's computer because your more relaxed. Lol well anyway thanks in advance to everybody.

478585 2006-08-16 06:16:00 Go to the Dell website and download the drivers from their website, atleast that way you certain to get the right ones. Its unlikely a defrag will help, if you formatted the harddrive when you did the windows reinstall then there would be little data on the drive to be fragmented.

Its probably a driver issue, assuming the DX upgrade didnt fix anything. Chances are youve installed the wrong driver or it didnt install correctly.
