478560 2006-08-15 08:39:00 I wouldn't go swapping an X2 for a single core - It will just be worse :waughh:

But of course it's not the CPU that can't handle the game, more likely the game itself can't handle that many AI craft or something, and it's just crashing itself .

If it works fine, as you say - with no AI loaded, then it would point to a problem with your "Voz AI" Mod (perhaps try lowering the number of AI)

look for updates to the mod and patches for your game .

478561 2006-08-15 12:11:00 Hi, Jack

I didn't bother reinstalling Voz after a recent rebuild, I found it mucked up too many other FS related things. (Agent, Voz is an Australian scenery package, AI planes are separate thing :) )

You mention FSInn, a client for connecting online. Do you fly on Vatsim .... ? (I only ask as FS Inn is to connect with Vatsim and I haven't seen you online). Try using Squawkbox instead, it's less CPU intensive from what I've seen.

Perhaps try renaming your fs9.cfg file or moving it somewhere else and re-starting FS9. let it built a new one. It could be a setting there that's mucked up. I run FS9 very well with plenty of add-ons with a AMD 2600 and can have FS Navigator, Serveinfo, Activesky, Teamspeak, Squawkbox, web browser and msn messenger all running without any issues, so I wouldn't suspect your CPU as being underpowered at all)

I see you're a member of the NZ Flight Sim Forum (s11.invisionfree.com). Perhaps ask there too?

478562 2006-08-15 19:09:00 Thanks for all the replies.
Metla: I have tried your suggestions. It runs fine on it's own. Well it should. The program is over two years old and was designed for mid-range PC of same period. The scenery etc. was pretty basic. Today with addons and a good computer it looks almost as good as a TV program.

Jester: I fly on the VOZ server. Connecting to it via Vatsim. Also use Teamspeak to connect to VOZ voice.
I will try your sugestion re cfg file. My current cfg has numerous alterations (improvments??). Will go back to standard and see.
I uninstalled VOZ last night and reinstalled it without the AI patch (170 MB's).

Current situation: fs9 runs perfectly no problems. Then load FSInn. As it loads my screen goes black. after it loads my 24 aircraft I am in desktop with fs9 in task bar. Click on it and we are in business again. But after a couple of minutes I'm dumped back to desktop and fs9 closed... I packed up and went to bed.

At least this seems to show the problem is with FSInn not the AI package.

478563 2006-08-16 02:52:00 If I don't load FSImm I usually have no problems.

If I don't load aircraft but use FSImm I'm OK.

It just seems that with both together I lack the necessary power.

sounds like you already know the answer to your issue!!

478564 2006-08-16 07:46:00 You may have too much ram, try running with only 1Gb

Check for patches for the game.

You must be joking surely? There is never anything like too much ram. I would suggest the he either has a problem with FS itself (is the latest patch installed) or one of his addon's.

FS is know to have issues with addons and does CTD at times. I had mine do it after flying a 9 hour fight with no time increase and have it CTD just as I was lining up for the runway.
