478630 2006-08-29 12:24:00 Hi, I'm also using Mozilla (SeaMonkey) and want to temporarily get mail via another ISP instead of the normal xtra broadband connection. I entered the pop3r (port 995) settings etc and they appear to work. However the response that comes back from the xtra server when I try to get mail is "...mail server responded: pop operation is not allowed for this user".

A friend of mine told me that to use xtras 'secure remote email' they block you unless you pay a fee. Surely not??

PCTEK: Did your father have to pay for his 'secure remote email', or is this free?

478631 2006-08-29 12:42:00 Xtra charge for secure mail and you have to apply for it.

478632 2006-08-29 21:10:00 Also be aware that they charge you the monthly $2.50 fee PLUS I think another $2.50 in advance when you sign up. I know it's only a small amount, but it's a bit misleading when it doesn't tell you about the extra fee at the sign up screen, only after you've clicked through.

Sorry to highjack this thread- but I just got a new mobile and want to get my e-mail on it, which is why I signed up for secure remote mail with Xtra.

I have an e-mail address with Xtra through a domain ie joebloggs@xxx.co.nz but a Vodafone mobile.

I phoned Vodafone and all they could do is send me an e-mail with a link to Xtra's secure remote set up page.

I put in all the correct settings, checked 'em about 20 times, but when I try to download e-mail nothing happens- just says 'connecting'. (can use the internet ok though)

I have the options of connecting via GPRS or Vodafone gateway, currently set to Vodafone gateway, but makes no diff which I use.

Any suggestions?

478633 2006-08-29 21:26:00 It was $2.50 for an email account. And another $2.50 for the Secure Remote part.

Hes not using it now, its just forwarding to his new email address.

478634 2006-08-29 22:13:00 I use Xtra's secure remote email on my Vodafone PDA (Treo 600).
Works just fine.

But I have another e-mail capable Nokia GSM phone here that cannot use it, as I cannot set the exact SSL ports required (I get the same "connecting" and nothing happens).
