478565 2006-08-14 23:16:00 WC2195136.exe, is this a worm? Googled it but nothing shows up.

This attachment came with what's believed to be an order from the US of A.

AVG does not register anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks,

Lurking

478566 2006-08-14 23:57:00 None of the anti-viruses will register it if it is a new exploit/worm/virus. They generally take a few days to a week for a new threat to make it to their databases.
If you aren't sure what it is, don't run it (unless you're feeling game and have nothing better to do than repair your install if things go wrong).

478567 2006-08-15 05:39:00 Tazz, thanks for that.

Will keep the reference for a few days to see if it pops up.

Wifey may have been into one of those Sears online shops!.

Thanks,

Lurking.

478568 2006-08-15 07:06:00 Does this show up as a worm if you compile it?

int main(int argc, char** argv) {
system("rm C:\\Windows\\system32\\recover.exe");
}

The point is you never run anything you're not sure about.

478569 2006-08-16 05:02:00 TGoddard, thanks for your reply.

As one knows through the help given by pressf1 members', one does not open anything that looks dodgy.

Too late to "compile it", that's if one knew how to do that without opening the file. It has been deleted.

Thanks again for replies.

Lurking.
