error:
user profile service failed the logon
user profile can not be loaded

tried:

registry adjustment suggested by MS ~ no change
creating a new user ~ able to login but the new user hangs with a blank screen ~ none of the standard icons appear
can access the user accounts through Safe Mode
there are only two users, but under C:\Windows\Users there are 6 listed?
did a system restore back one year ~ no change same error
have backed up the data

any suggestions on how to fix this without reformat would be appreciated!
Thank you!

1406362 2015-08-11 22:05:00 Not a fix, but I would run some tests on that HardDrive. It may be starting to go bad .

also, run sfc /scannow
and a GOOD virus scan

To be honest, its going to be quicker to wipe & reload than try & find a fix if its that bad, not what you want to hear I know .

1406363 2015-08-12 00:11:00 Thank you! 1101 :)
Will run the HDD test
already did the SFC
trouble doing a virus scan ~ can only get into safe mode ~ anti-virus doesn't want to run.

But I feel better about a reformat ~ so heading in that direction ~ thanks!
