Many people have got into trouble with drugs and religion in Asian and Hispanic countries. I am not surprised that the Malaysian's object to the use of Buddha on a Bar poster, completely ignorant. Thailand would have the same reaction. They should remember the old saying "when in Rome do as the Romans do" |

Its somehow OK for White Nuns to be similarly dressed ? I take offense at Catholics & their insistence on eating fish on fridays, how is that the kiwi way when we all eat meat & chippies :p |

The Burmese are just going to come off as dictatorial and unreasonable for this. The Malaysian response can be criticised as an over-reaction, but the basic point is to show a bit of respect to the people you are living amongst. You don't have to believe what they believe, you don't have to agree with what they do, but if you act like a dickhead, don't be surprised at the consequences. |
