1396056 2015-03-09 22:24:00 Wow, a jewel of an engine. Each cylinder 25cc! And about 20000 revs available! Richard (739)
1396057 2015-03-09 23:41:00 I hate those howling screamers, I'd much prefer to hear the bdum bdum bdum of a V twin at a couple of thousand rpm :) Terry Porritt (14)

I love some of the old bikes but I am in awe of the engineering that has gone into the Japanese machines.

That is why you cannot buy Nortons and other English bikes out of a showroom these days. Jap, followed an long way back, German, Italian and I suppose we must mention Harleys :(

Look at the MotoGP and see the Slow-Mo shots.... fantastic how they hold on to the road

A friend had a Norton Dominator in the 1950's. I didn't like it as it got a speed wobble on corners, probably something wrong with the rear suspension. I had an Arial Red Hunter at the time which was very stable. Prior to that I had a BSA M20 ex army. My last bike was a Triumph Thunderbird 1958, good looking machine but not as smooth as the BSA Star Twin, or AJS twin. My first bike I had as a kid was a 1914 Douglas Twin which I saved from a scrap heap. No clutch, total loss oil system, acetylene lamp & 26x2.5 clincher tyres.
