| 1395963 | 2015-03-08 18:27:00 | Not that I've seen. Surely they'll aim for cheaper than neon, lightbox and poss quickflix? | psycik (12851) | ||
| 1395964 | 2015-03-08 19:30:00 | My bet is $15 / month.. | paulw (1826) | ||
| 1395965 | 2015-03-08 20:50:00 | Bit hard to beat Lightbox at the moment. Free for a year. | CliveM (6007) | ||
| 1395966 | 2015-03-08 20:54:00 | Given that the content library will be more limited, I'd just buy the US netflix like people have already been doing. | Nick G (16709) | ||
| 1395967 | 2015-03-08 21:15:00 | I'll likely give it a try. I can't be bothered getting around regional restrictions, tried briefly with Hulu but quickly decided it wasn't for me. If I'm going to pay for a service I will do it properly or I may as well just download the stuff to my mind. It's movies that interest me, lightbox has enough TV content for me so far but it lacks movies. Quickflix held my attention for about 2 weeks, lets see if netflix can do better. For at least a year I can have both netflix and lightbox for the price of one :) I'm a member of fatso as well, for about the 3rd time. I join up, watch everything I can find for 2-3 months or so, then get annoyed with not being able to get new releases quickly and quit again. If I can find a streaming service that delivers at least most new releases at the same time as the video store for a reasonable price it'll kill both my fatso account and my trips to united video. New release Blu-rays are cheaper to hire than they've ever been and you can't beat the quality but even so the 10 min round trip in the car likely eats up the $3-$5 difference in price between the video store and the streaming services I've tried. Both the windows 8 video app and the google+ one seem to get missed off articles talking about streaming video in NZ but both work here and offer HD streaming movies for a 1 time hire fee. All that stops me using them regularly is the limited choice and a few streaming issues I've had (a new release would not work on google+ one time and the MS app had grey bars top and bottom with older intel graphics chipset drivers which is annoying) If you want to try the MS app I recommend downloading the file to watch locally as even if your connection is fast enough if you choose streaming and it mucks up you can't seem to change your mind and download the movie as a solution. |

To much and people will say narrrrr :) This page rightnow.nz on their site has an interesting comparison of options from the various providers, Pros / Cons. |

| 1395970 | 2015-03-09 00:32:00 | I'll likely give it a try. I can't be bothered getting around regional restrictions, Ive often wondered if its worth the hassle paying for a service to get around streaming restrictions, then probably not getting a descent quality stream from the US. If youre going do do that, just download the programs instead. You'll surely get better quality. Im a bit weary of signing up for Netfix, I know Netfix will leave me glued to the TV all night every night . I dont want to be a couch potato, as I used to be. Too much quality content could be a bad thing. :p |

Netflix streams very well here; and you know what? You can get a free trial of both the proxy services and Netflix, so you can easily stop wondering and just try it. Netflix's NZ catalogue will still be smaller than the US, so many may well end up paying for the service here and still opting to use the proxy services. |
