1396008 2015-03-09 19:35:00 I am surprised he hasn't actually said that the sudden largesse they are promising to spend in Northland will be dependent on the National candidate being elected.

If Winston does get in then don't be surprised if there is then a sudden fiscal problem and Northland road spending gets deferred and deferred.............:banana One thing that stands out a mile -- All the time National did have the seat in Northland , no one heard anything about "projects" or plans to improve the area, NOW all of a sudden when its up for re-electing a new candidate and winston is making some noise national suddenly appear interested and wanting to do this that and the other.

Maybe its key and his cronies all "forgetting" they were meant to have done something.

To quote an article in the Herald:

The National Party has promised to upgrade 10 one-way bridges in Northland as part of its byelection campaign

The timing of the announcement is likely to raise eyebrows. Mr Peters last week used the bridges as an example of the neglect the region faced under National.

Even Nationals OWN MP was frustrated,
Former Northland MP Mike Sabin had called for upgrades to the one way bridges in Kaeo and Matakohe but to little avail.

Exactly what happened up there in 1966.

Vernon Cracknell (Social Credit) beat Logan Sloane (National) and nothing was spent there until Sloane was returned in 1969.

However, under MMP Peters would have a lot more leverage than Cracknell under FPP. ;)

1396010 2015-03-09 21:27:00 I'm not sure that Winston would appreciate that nomenclature prefect, and the way Kim Jon Key is cranking up the ante and assuming that his god-like status will last a thousand years is leading him down a familiar path: The last self-declared demi-god dictator to try that game ended up frying in a puddle of petrol in the grounds of his bunker.

You can fool all of the people some of the time, and you can fool some of the people all of the time, but Kim Jon Key is approaching a critical point in his political career when he will finally realise that he can't fool all of the people all of the time. It is quite clear from his demeanour in recent TV interviews that he is becoming less and less comfortable under questioning, and he is developing nervous mannerisms that any student of human behaviour will recognise.

He can play semantics for just so long before he finally hangs himself or gets hung out to dry, the Waihopai Station is a festering sore in the side of his credibility rating, and he is standing just a few short steps from the end of the plank. If Winston wins Northland, and he probably will, it is likely be the forerunner of a major shakeup in political allegiances, and Kim Jon Key may find himself and his cronies standing even closer to the end of said plank, especially when the rats start deserting the sinking ship.

Nearly well written with some nice ones, just too much repetition of some words.

1396011 2015-03-09 23:51:00 Well the Rock star economy has turned to a blues economy for me, been put down to a 4 day week. I suppose I should at it as 3 day weekend

I've just gone from a 3 day week back to a 5 day week so I think that the economy is booming.. Do miss the 4 day weekend though..

Thanks for that, B.M. I must have missed this AV software. At last (as they say) no more interminable discussions about which AV to use. Here is the one which trumps them all. Comes with a Government Guarantee.
