| 1395366 | 2015-03-01 18:49:00 | It wasn't all that long ago when Christians burnt people at the stake, disemboweled live victims, severed genitalia and forced the victim to watch while his tormenters set fire to those hapless organs before stuffing them down his throat. Less than 200 years ago, some of our tangata whenua were cannibals, more recently some of our parents' generation committed war crimes, widespread genocide, ethnic cleansing, etc etc. Oh yes, and decapitated people (I almost forgot). Yep. People in general are crazy, vicious creatures. Religion is one of the main causes of insane behaviour - whether it's to the extremes of harming other people or just their ridiculous rules. But people find all kinds of reasons to maim and kill each other........imagine if everyone just shared, exchanging oil, food, whatever between areas, free travel between each area of the world, friendly helpful people in each ensuring everyone was OK.... Right, enough of fantasy novels. |
