1396490 2015-03-17 22:05:00 Thanks heaps for your input. At this stage have to take what my new wireless internet provider is giving me as have rather a "interesting" deal!
Am keen to explore flicking our incoming old steam home phone number calls to our cell phones though!
Again excuse my ignorance at how this could work - is there hardware that can plug into the Cisco SPA122 ATA unit that then transmits to an App on the iPhone when within our home wifi range?
Am I pushing simplicity too much here!
Thanks.

1396492 2015-03-18 01:44:00 No the ATA is 100% independent from your Cellphone.

Your Cellphone would operate 100% independently from the ATA, it would "replace" it. With WxC you have one or the other.

Get yourself one of the 3-pack cordless phones. No need for Voicemail, that's bundled (along with Caller ID) in with your SIP line by your provider.

Depending on how WxC are setup these days (I've stopped using them yeeears back and all the people I know have also), you can only have your SIP line on one device at a time.
However, if you have an account with the likes of 2talk, they've got a rather unique setup that allows you to have your phone number in multiple places, such as a Softphone on your Cellphone, a Softphone on your PC, on an ATA Adapter.... all at once, and they can each make individual calls etc too.

2talk are cheaper, more reliable, and have a better overall product compared with WxC. Arguably they're one of the best regarded in the entire country, even though they're probably the cheapest. The only thing is the 2talk helpdesk is pretty shitty by comparison, but thankfully people rarely need to use the helpdesk. If I was you I'd see if your ISP can help you with porting to 2talk instead.
Well guys - have done it! We have VoIP and have put in a Panasonic KX-PRW 120AZ so that our iPhones can now answer and send calls from anywhere within our wifi reach!
