| 1406294 | 2015-08-11 02:55:00 | Click Start > Run > type regedt32 and click on OK Registry Editor will be opened First backup your registry by going to File --> Export Then expand the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E967- E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} If you see any upperfilter or lowerfilters entries at the right side, simply delete them. Close the registry and restart your PC. ccm.net I deleted the registry keys as per above. Now Windows won't start. It blue screens and then restarts. During start up, it has the option to go into safe mode and run the start up repairer. That didn't work. Can those keys be restored so I don't have to reinstall windows? I'm running Windows 7. |

| 1406297 | 2015-08-11 04:40:00 | One quick Way if it will allow you to boot far enough. Restart the computer, keep tapping F8, select safe mode with command prompt. When the CMD opens type in rstrui.exe press enter - system restore should open, as long as system restore hasn't been disabled previously, select the newest restore point and run it, on reboot it should start normally. or if you have the windows 7 DVD, boot from that, go into the recovery options, select System Restore. Often it says its failed, but in fact its worked fine :) |

I always just shut down my computer and then restart my session by the restore previous session feature. How do I save that for the new install? I can access my files currently with Ubuntu live DVD. |

| 1406300 | 2015-08-15 21:35:00 | you can upgrade and "clean install" at the same time by use the downloadable ISO at www.microsoft.com run SETUP.EXE from within Windows 8.1 so that it can detect that you have a licensed, activated OS Then when it asks what you want to migrate, choose “nothing” or “data only”. That will result in a “clean” Windows 10 OS that can successfully activate. * |

If the system wont boot, then its a PITA :( With XP you could take a unbootable system, boot from the CD/DVD and perform a repair install. For some reason Microsoft decided to disable this option from windows 7 onwards and you are required to have a bootable system to start with. |
