1396425 2015-03-15 20:07:00 But the question I have to ask is 'What has happened to Formula 1?' It has become as exciting as watching grass grow. Where has the noise and spectacle gone? Where are the fantastic passing manoeuvres and racing? Murray Walker, where are you? We used to get more exciting racing at Ardmore in the 50s. Now we have a procession of cars with about the same impact as a Suzuki Swift driving around in a line, and not really looking very fast. It has all just become to antiseptic for me now. Never been the same for me since Stirling departed.

I remember him at Levin, ah those were the days.

It is what happens when you make F1 environmentally friendly. Unfortunately the side effect is that it removes the public appeal of F1 which was the ear splittingly loud V8 and V10 engines and over taking.

I was lucky enough to go to Albert Park in Melbourne and be hosted in a corporate box on Pit Lane for the 2003 F1 racing. The sound was incredible. ( Huge smile!) The food and pit lane ladies were also worth checking out ;)

I would have been there Cic. We used to go down from PN every year to man the Firestone tent. Great days, and great racing from the great man in the Maserati 250F.

1396429 2015-03-16 04:56:00 Never got to Levin but used to go to Ardmore each year. I remember Stirling in his Cooper going round the corner at the end of the main straight with three wheels on the tarmac and the inside front left wheel about 3 inches above the grass in a controlled drift. God he could drive!!

I remember you, long blonde hair and a bit of a limp.

He was quite happy to face the danger of those times, he was of the Sir Douglas Robert Steuart Bader CBE, DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar, school
