| 479556 | 2006-08-20 00:13:00 | Recently built a computer, using the A8S-X motherboard I posted about previously, AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ etc... Was running good until yesterday when after restarting after uninstalling Messenger Plus! Live. (Don't know if this actually caused the problem, but anyway) On reboot windows appeared to complete booting however it then died with a bluescreen of "STOP: 0x0000007F (0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x0000000, 0x0000000)" This came up briefly, (I was able to gain an image with digital camera) and then the computer rebooted, even though automatic restart on system failure is turned off. It can boot in safe mode at the moment, however the last couple of times it's also being generating a registry error-message: "Windows - Registry Recovery" One of the files containing the system's registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful But safe mode appears to work just fine with no problems :stare: I have run memtest, everything passed - tried only 1 ram stick, same Bsod problem. Updated the BIOS to the latest version (had some real fun doing that - bios update failed, thank asus for crashfree bios ;) ) So when that finally flashed properly, the Bsod error still remains. Another thing to note is that about a week ago, the computer was turned off while booting - the next time it was turned on it randomly rebooted (but with no BSOD). Tried "start windows normally", thinking it was just random. same reboot problem. "Last known good" was then tried and that worked (until now). I have run CHKDSK, Seatools and done a Virus/Malware scan on another computer, with no problems detected. I am about to try a repair of windows, unless anyone has any other ideas I can try first. | 479558 | 2006-08-20 00:50:00 | Yes, norton internet security 2005 is installed, but it won't uninstall in safe mode :badpc: the BSOD only shows the STOP: and numbers, not "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP" or anything |

| 479559 | 2006-08-20 01:14:00 | What version of Windows is on it? XP ? XP 64 bit? It could be something like this (service1.symantec.com) What was the last thing u installed on the system? It could be a driver as well. Or see if any of the info here (www.planetamd64.com) fixes it You could try deleting all symantec folders, (Program files / under common files / in documents and settings. Then use ccleaner click on issues and remove everything that comes up showing Symantec/Nortons. |

Occasionally at startup it will come up saying "Drive C: needs to be checked for consistency etc" . . . but finds no errors :annoyed: Then once windows loads fine it comes up with the registry error again . at one point I tried skipping the disk check, at which point the computer did a BSOD . . IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL The system log shows Error code 1000000a, parameter1 8c8196d8, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 80524ba1 . Found something about ASUS boards doing this . . . something do with dual channel - at the moment i'm running it at single channel, waiting to see what happens |

| 479565 | 2006-08-27 00:59:00 | This is a kernel problem - probably in a driver. Contact Microsoft tech support. They can tell you where to find the core file from which they should be able to determine the fault. EDIT: On second thoughts don't. I forgot that Microsoft abandon their customers after 3 months. They'll charge you an arm and a leg to talk to a monkey. |
