479365 2006-08-19 02:31:00 Hi Folks. Running XP Pro with all updates and IE + OE 6. No problems in clicking on and moving around sites when using Internet Explorer. However, clicking on links in OE, such as when viewing overseas news sites and wishing to follow a link, gets the prompt response of "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." This is something new to me and just wondering if anyone has a simple answer. Thanks. Scouse (83)
479366 2006-08-19 03:11:00 Yep, i've just started getting the same message.

I'd swear it was after an update. :annoyed:

Hi there B.M. Found a M/S site which suggested that Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browser and take the tick out of Enable Third Party Browser Extensions. Cleared up the problem. As you suggest, a possible update may have triggered the tick in the box.

479372 2006-08-21 09:49:00 Hi again B.M. Don't know what it is but deleting the tick from that box automatically deletes a couple of toolbars, including Google's, from my IE window. Restoring the tick restores the two toolbars. Scouse (83)
479373 2006-08-21 22:20:00 Well Scouse, the bad news is that after a couple of error free days the problem has returned!

I’ve checked the tick and it’s still missing, so I may have to wait for the fix Speedy referred to .

Why is it every time M$ fix something, they stuff something else doing it? :groan:
