478948 2006-08-17 09:15:00 have recently upgraded to XP - in previous (98) there was a facility to choose the programme to open a file with i.e. open with - hilite and hold down the shift key while rt clicking the file (methinks) - is that facility available in XP? i think a reg tweak will do it but am not too sure about it - thank you jayal (1291)
478949 2006-08-17 09:41:00 You run my computer.

Go to tools / folder options / file types tab. Highlight the type of file, and click on change. And select another program.

Nope

It would most probably take longer to do whatever if there was a way.

478952 2006-08-17 11:40:00 If you right-click+shift on an file you should see a menu option for "Open With" with XP as well. No registry hack required normally. Jen (38)
478953 2006-08-17 11:44:00 Right-click and "open with" is native to all my 4 XP home installations here, from within Windows Explorer. No hacks have been applied, no "shift key" needed. godfather (25)
