479970 2006-08-22 00:57:00 howdy all :)

Basicly Im looking for a new isp
I used to live in wellington and had cable
moved to auckland and got adsl .. now moving back to wellington
Mainly for online gaming ... and adsl is really second rate .. as most of my gaming is in australia 110+ ping (on a good day)
I can no longer go back to testra as when i moved and paid the account .. money went into an already closed account .. there for went to baycorp :(
they wont have me back .. even thoi i have paid and was a small amount... so...
Wireless has come along way ... but i have no idea who does wireless in wellington? .. woosh has bad latency

any help would be muchly appresiated :D

479971 2006-08-22 02:19:00 Well Telstras wireless was best. Why not just clear your debts? pctek (84)
479972 2006-08-22 03:03:00 Well Telstras wireless was best. Why not just clear your debts?
I have .. and it was only a small amount .. but because they had no way to contact me (i moved) .. i never got the bill .. and it went to baycorp ...
This was also there mistake . as they gave me the wrong details .. but since i gave them a bit of a blasting for the error ... they dont want me back .. :(

Palmy have a good wireless .. must be something in welly?

479975 2006-08-22 07:57:00 Well I'm no expert on Wireless .

Seeing as no-one else has any suggestions try asking over at www . gpforums . co . nz seeing as theres plenty of gamers there - no doubt they'll have suggestions on best ISPs for gaming .

479976 2006-08-22 08:46:00 Tro, it is well accepted wireless has a greater latency than "DSL". For gaming this is DEFINATELY not an option.

I have read Telstra are really annal about any kind of bad debt, heard this type of story before. I would try and speak to at least a supervisor or manager, persistence is probably the key.

There are several other companies that re-sell Telstra Cable, just can't for the life of me remember a name. One does free national, but there international speeds are pathetic compared to Telstra Cable.

479978 2006-08-23 00:26:00 Gasp (http://www.gasp.co.nz/) is another wireless option. No idea what they're like though.

Check the GPForums as posted above to see what other gamers in NZ use.
