Del5150 (www1.ap.dell.com)

has anyone here got this perticular model. I just wanted some suggestions. I am not buying this but a friend of mine is. He isnt a hardcore games, will be watching tv burning dvds/cds. emailing , chatting.

I would suggest to find it if it has tv out ... or Svideo if he wishes to watch movies from his pc .. on a tv

All depends on what brand components id in it, which they never tell you.
In general they use the cheap crap.
So chances are - yes.

BTW Dell don't make parts - they make labels.

Kinda hard to shop around for a price when Dell are the only people that sell Dell laptops. Kinda like Windows, you either pay the price microsoft wants you to pay or you dont buy Windows, it isnt a case of shopping around.

You have to select the cpu, ram, video card and drive etc in order to purchase!

Yes saw that, I take it you are talking about the 1399 unit......?

I would double the RAM straight away, however not a bad unit for everyday use. As a side note, I would check to see if you can add a graphic card later on. A lot of Dell budget untis dont have PCIe expandion slots.....
